Stabilized chlorine refers to slow-feeding chlorine tablets or fast dissolving dichlor granules. It is possible to use dichlor as a super-chlorinating treatment but repeated use could significantly increase the level of stabilizer in the pool water. As a result, other types of shock treatments are preferred.
