In-Line 1.5kW 120V Electric Heater
The built in pressure switch prevents operation when there is no water flow and allows operation at flow rates between 15GPM and 80GPM. The stainless steel tank is designed to optimize heat transfer by directing the water flow over the incoloy elements efficiently.
Compact and efficient, Coates in-line spa heaters feature stainless steel tanks and replaceable incoloy elements.

Works well.
Does what it is supposed to do, heats my small spa perfectly. I only have to wait a couple minutes but after that everything is good and hot. Great value.

No pre- wire. You should wire electrical for your own risk but it is not easy for DIY

would this heat a small 6000 gallon pool? It's temperature is usually 73-75 degrees... only looking to raise to around 80-83 degrees.

BEST ANSWER: You will need the 120V and also a 230V one to do the job. (Two of them together does pretty good). You do NOT use ground fault circuit breakers. Use the standard ones.

would this work for an intex above ground pool? Looking to heat the pool for night swimming. 15 x 48 4000 gallon pool. Just want to bring it up to a comfortable temp. Is this appropriate for this type of pool and what would be the recommended temp be? Does the chlorine and chem have any disadvantages to the heater? Do I pass the water through it after the filter pump to the pool?

BEST ANSWER: this heater is just for a small pool - 8 ft x 8ft and you need a larger one. The chlorine and chemical will not affect the heater and you pass the water through it after the filter pump to the pool, I keep the temperature at around 87F

BEST ANSWER: A standard circuit breaker is used as the switch on/off. If the water is moving and the breaker is on, it will come on. If the breaker is on and the pump is not moving the water it will turn off.

BEST ANSWER: You did not say how small or above or in ground. I installed on above ground 15 FT dia and insulated the outside walls with 1" Styrofoam. I ran it for days to raise the temp to 82F. I then decided to ADD a 230 V one. That did the trick! With both, you can get the temp up in about 12 hours.

Our pool is 13500 gallons and this heater didn't work at all, the fumes from our clorinator ate through the metal causing it to leak, so we had no luck with it. It lasted maybe 2 months

Will this work for a best way 16foot by 42 inch deep pool?

BEST ANSWER: With a sufficiently strong pump and the right PVC adapters, it should. I used this heater with an Intex 18-foot by 48-inch deep pool, but upgraded the pump from the Intex-standard 1500 GPH model to a 2500 GPH pump to meet the minimum flow-rate requirements for the heater. For adapters, while I do not have experience with Bestway pools, Intex uses metric PVC fittings which are oh-so-close-but-not-quite to the English PVC sizes in the U.S., so specific metric-to-English PVC adapters were required to connect the heater. The 1.5kW heater + 2500 GPH pump both fit on a single 120V, 15A circuit.
The heater made a noticeable difference in my Intex pool, but don't expect miracles. At 5500 gallons, my Intex pool is probably 10x the volume that this 1.5kW electric heater was designed to handle, plus the fact that the pool has much poorer thermal insulation than do the hot tubs for which this heater was designed for. Comparing a season having the heater versus a season without the heater, the pool heated up 1-2 degrees F faster per day, and reached a peak summer temperature 5-6 degrees warmer than it did without the heater.
Note that these results required running the heater and pump 24/7, and were achieved using a lightweight thermal pool cover. The Coates heater operated perfectly, even under these 100% duty cycle operation conditions.

It would heat in a day or two (or three). The trick is to move the water through the heater very slo o o o wly, otherwise it doesn't have time to heat the water as it flows thru the heater.

Would this electric pool heater be sufficient for an above ground pool 10 x 15 ?

BEST ANSWER: This wouldn't be large enough for that size pool. It's a replacement for a Jacuzzi 2 person hot tub. I'm sure you could get a similar heater ONLY in a larger size for a pool and it would work. But this one would be sufficient for a pool of your size. THE AREA/MASS of water you are wanting to heat/warm would be far too great for this set up to be successful. Hope this is helpful

have a 3000 gallon above ground pool and want to maintain pool temp in 70's. I only have 120v would this work? Does the unit not come on if the temp is over 70, so I can set it and forget it? Will it handle outdoor sunlight exposure? I live in southern california.

BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately this unit is too small for an above ground pool. There isn't an electric heater on the market that will work for that application on 120V.

BEST ANSWER: You better use bigger heater. The one you bought is small for 2,000 gallon pool or spa size. 220v, 11k is better suit. You should install after your filter to keep debris get stuck inside the unit

BEST ANSWER: The simple answer is no. I have a 230V plus a 120V for a 4300 Gal. It takes all night to raise the temperature by 8 degrees. I run solar (Home made--16 parabolics by PIPEtalk) to keep the temp up and them hit the electric ones to cap it off before swimming. Three 230V might do the job if you have time and money.

BEST ANSWER: With a sufficiently strong pump and the right PVC adapters, it should. I used this heater with an Intex 18-foot by 48-inch deep pool, but upgraded the pump from the Intex-standard 1500 GPH model to a 2500 GPH pump to meet the minimum flow-rate requirements for the heater. For adapters, while I do not have experience with Bestway pools, Intex uses metric PVC fittings which are oh-so-close-but-not-quite to the English PVC sizes in the U.S., so specific metric-to-English PVC adapters were required to connect the heater. The 1.5kW heater + 2500 GPH pump both fit on a single 120V, 15A circuit.

It would heat in a day or two (or three). The trick is to move the water through the heater very slo o o o wly, otherwise it doesn't have time to heat the water as it flows thru the heater.

Would this electric pool heater be sufficient for an above ground pool 10 x 15 ?

BEST ANSWER: This wouldn't be large enough for that size pool. It's a replacement for a Jacuzzi 2 person hot tub. I'm sure you could get a similar heater ONLY in a larger size for a pool and it would work. But this one would be sufficient for a pool of your size. THE AREA/MASS of water you are wanting to heat/warm would be far too great for this set up to be successful. Hope this is helpful

have a 3000 gallon above ground pool and want to maintain pool temp in 70's. I only have 120v would this work? Does the unit not come on if the temp is over 70, so I can set it and forget it? Will it handle outdoor sunlight exposure? I live in southern california.

BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately this unit is too small for an above ground pool. There isn't an electric heater on the market that will work for that application on 120V.

BEST ANSWER: You better use bigger heater. The one you bought is small for 2,000 gallon pool or spa size. 220v, 11k is better suit. You should install after your filter to keep debris get stuck inside the unit

would this work for a 8000 gallon pool?

BEST ANSWER: The simple answer is no. I have a 230V plus a 120V for a 4300 Gal. It takes all night to raise the temperature by 8 degrees. I run solar (Home made--16 parabolics by PIPEtalk) to keep the temp up and them hit the electric ones to cap it off before swimming. Three 230V might do the job if you have time and money.
