The CompuPool CPSC36 replacement salt cell electrode is for use with the CPSC36 chlorination system only. The unit housing, unions and O-rings are not included with the cell, and we always recommend adding a new cord (see Items We Suggest) when replacing the cell or electrode.

The CPSC36 electrode uses seven titanium blades to produce up to nearly two pounds of chlorine per day for pools up to 40,000 gallons in volume. The level of salinity can be easily maintained at the power center, making for a pleasing swimming experience as smooth, silky water provides a welcome contrast to the often overly chlorinated, irritating pool and spa water of years past. Periodic cleaning of the cell can also be performed with a simple mixture of water and muriatic acid.

CompuPool makes it possible to save by ordering just this replacement electrode for the CPSC36 without the blue housing if the existing housing is intact. It is possible, however, to order the full CPSC36 cell, housing included, by clicking the link above.

CPSC cells, electrode-only models and full systems are popular for a number of other reasons as well:

  • Default salt level setting of 3500 parts per million, which can be easily adjusted
  • Automatic operation plus battery-powered backup timer for consistent schedule
  • Automatic detection when water’s salt level is too high
  • Intuitive touch pad controls for easy setting of desired levels
  • No-flow sensor, plus high-salt and low-salt fault lights
  • Water temperature sensor to help make salt level reading more accurate
  • Large alloy heat sink to help dissipate heat and prevent corrosion
  • Entire system fully weather protected
  • Winter mode to compensate for colder water being chlorinated
  • Waterproof connectors make installing replacement cells simple

CompuPool has discontinued production of its CPSC line of complete salt systems in favor of the newer CPX models. However, it still manufactures replacement cells and electrodes for the CPSC system and we’re happy to offer them. CompuPool has been a leader in saltwater chlorination for more than three decades and we’ve received consistently high reviews from customers regarding those systems as well as replacement cells.

I am getting "water fault" red light and "no water" on display. The metal plates don't look corroded or broken. How can I tell if I need to replace the electrode or another part of the salt generator system?
Jim V in MA on Jun 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The sensor in the controller has most likely failed. As long as you have sufficient flow through the unit the electrode should operate. I would suggest you turn the entire salt system off with the pump running. Wait a few minutes and reboot the salt system.
Allow a few minutes for the self test and see if the red water fault light comes back on.
If it does , you can call their help desk at and they can help you troubleshoot . Good luck
Does this replace part with serial number 076220?

My CompuPool salt cell died on me after some years, so decided to save myself a few bucks and change the electrode myself. It's really simple, basically unscrew the electrode and change, now my salt generator is back up and running with no problems.

It was exactly what we needed to get to replace the original Salt Cell electrode that lasted 7 swim seasons. It was very easy to install as well and didn't take long to clear up the water to being crystal clear again. The water is so much softer on the skin as well . Delivery was quick and the staff was very helpful and kind on the phone too. I would highly recommend them.
