I've been through a couple of generations of Autopilot and decided they were too expensive and too prone to failure. We tried another brand that worked for awhile, then it failed too. But this is over 17 years, so I'm not whining all that much. The cells though, are stupid expensive.
So the salesman assured me that this was a serviceable unit and for $550, it was less than half the price of an autopilot so WTF.
It is a little thing, I have bigger coffee pots. Both water ports were on the same side, so it was easiest to pick a vertical water line and break in with two 90's. Wish I could rotate the ports, but it is a solid piece.
The biggest concern on these units is the durability of the cell. Low cost cells have thin, crappy plating and fail in a year. Premium cells should last 3-5 years. So ask me in a year.
NOTE: I bought this along with a UV sanitizer. Recommended chlorine level with the UV is 1 PPM, so maybe we'll get the extra cell life we are looking for.

I installed the SGS Wave a few years ago, replacing a Pentair Salt Cell Intellichlor system. I grew tired of having to replace the salt cell units over a 12 year period, and did not like the chemical cleaning process it required.

The SGS Wave was fairly straight forward to install, following their instructions. The unit very consistently maintains the proper chlorine balance in my 20k gallon pool year round (which is a feat here in the desert heat!).

Cleaning is reasonably easy as well, requiring no chemicals. You simply unscrew the end of the unit, and remove the plates component. Then basically you use a wooden stick similar to a paint stirring stick to break off built up calcium off of the plates.

The only thing I have a minor issue with, is that the rubber sealing gasket ring must be absolutely spotless with no impurities on it or in the channel in the screw top, when you put it back together. If not, it will have a very slight leak and you have to break it down again and recheck the rubber gasket.

One addition I did to my unit, was to build a soft aluminum reflective foam cover that I secure around the unit with Velcro straps, to keep the intense sun off of it. Don't know if it is necessary, but it is effective in keeping the sun off of it.
