If you’ve read Stan’s blog post on How to Clean a Pool Filter you know that no matter what kind of filter you have, cleaning it can really be a pain in the you know what! If you and your family spend endless hours enjoying your swimming pool like we do, it takes regular filter cleaning and maintenance to keep your pool water clear and clean. We’re all searching for ways to enjoy our swimming pools more and maintain them less, that’s why our friends at Waterco have developed a low maintenance pool filtration device that is revolutionizing water filtration and swimming pool maintenance. The Waterco MultiCyclone is a brilliant new pre-filtration device that saves water and drastically minimizes your pool filter maintenance.

Waterco MultiCyclone
The MultiCyclone works on the basis of centrifugal water filtration. But what does that mean? Well, think of it like your cyclonic vacuum cleaner... I’m sure you’ve watched as the air sucked into your cleaner forces the dirt out to the cyclone canister wall, and then spirals down to the debris chamber. This the exact same theory, but with water. Incoming water is drawn tangentially into multiple hydro cyclones creating a powerful centrifugal effect. The debris is spun out to the hydro cyclone’s wall, and then spirals down to the sediment chamber. The filtered water, now free of debris, migrates towards the center of the hydro cyclone where the flow reverses and water spirals upwards and out of the unit.

There are no electrical components or moving parts to wear and tear, and no filter media to clean or replace. The MultiCyclone literally spins the dirt and debris out of your pool water. Accumulation of the dirt and debris can be visibly monitored through the MultiCyclone’s clear sediment chamber. The MultiCyclone is easily cleaned by opening its purge valve while the pump is running. Only four gallons of water is discharged to cleanse the MultiCyclone, which is miniscule considering a sand filter requires 185 gallons to clean. The MultiCyclone is Easily Cleaned
The MultiCyclone is not a replacement for your swimming pool filter - this is an innovative pre-filter that can be adapted to any filter system at any time. The MultiCyclone runs between the pool's pump and pool filter. The device can be paired with any type of filter - cartridge, sand or D.E. - to reduce filter cleaning, backwashing, and cartridge and grid replacement. If it is time to replace your current filter system and you're looking for the best low maintenance pool filter, look no further than the Waterco Dual Stage Filtration System. This system pairs the MultiCyclone with the Opal XL Cartridge Filter. This dual stage filtration system has proven to be the most effective, lowest maintenance water filtration system on the market today.
