Intellichlor Flow Switch Replacement Kit Instructions:

Switch OFF power to the pool pump and the Intellichlor cell before starting
Remove the flow switch from the IntelliChlor cell

Using a small Phillips Screwdriver, remove the flow switch cover screw, then remove the cover from the cell
Loosen the flow switch cable that is wrapped around the switch nut. Note the direction of the arrows on top of the switch nut.
Cut the cable close to the switch to allow enough wire for the new switch cable to be connected to.
Using a flat 1/2" (30mm) wrench carefully unscrew the flow switch assembly until the switch can e removed from the cell. Be careful not to damage the cell plastic coupling with the edge of the wrench.

Install the replacement flow switch
1. Insert the flow switch into threaded hole in the cell and hand tighten the switch as much as possible
2. Using a flat 1/2" (30mm) wrench carefully tighten the flow switch assembly until the switch thread nearly bottoms out.
3. Tighten the switch nut until the arrows on the top of the switch nut are pointing in the flow direction and the center arrow is aligned in the center position.
4. Strip back the two wires on the replacement flow switch cable and the switch wire that was cut.
5. Match each of the wire colors and twist the wire together. Place a wire cap on each of the wires. Wrap the excess wire around the flow switch nut.
6. Replace the switch cover and secure it with the small Phillips screw.
The IntelliChlor is now ready for operation! Switch power on to pool pump and IntelliChlor cell.

what problems would cause the need to replace the fiow switch?

BEST ANSWER: I had to replace my flow switch because the metal activation tab had corroded off. I noticed the flow indicator light was red and inspected the switch (required removing the Chlorinator) but was un-aware of the missing tab until I viewed a picture of the flow switch part. I assume I used to strong an acid wash on my periodic cleaning or a piece of debris damaged the switch. Either way the replacement only took about 15 mins. Read the directions thoroughly before starting.

BEST ANSWER: You should read the directions thoroughly before starting. In addition to the physical installation and proper alignment you will also (probably) need to cut the electrical lead from the cell to the old switch, being careful to leave sufficient wire to allow easy connection to the replacement leads. The water proof electrical connects make the electrical hookup easy as long as you can match color to color. Remember you can always shorten your wires. There is usually room for an extra 8 to 10 inches under the cover.

how do you know if he flow switch is bad?

BEST ANSWER: Remove flow switch.Tie Elastic band from flapper to post . Replace switch if flow lite is red switch is faulty. If lite is green switch is OK.
