BEST ANSWER: Yes. You will also need a seal and gasket kit, GO-KIT32. An FYI, the Phillips head screw in the center of the impeller is reverse thread.

In many applications the 3HP VS motor is way too much for an average pool. Dropping the horsepower to 2 or even 1HP provides better energy savings. You must change the impeller and diffuser if you do this. The new energy standard for variable speed pumps is known as WEF. The higher the WEF the more energy efficient the pump. Example: Intelliflo 3HP pulls 16 amps and has a WEF of 6.1 A 2HP motor pulls 11.8 amps and has a WEF of 6.9. Dropping to a 1HP motor, the amp draw is 7.3 with a WEF of 7.5 With the IntelliFlo pumps, all of the motors and controllers are the same, the only difference is the impeller and diffuser.
