Algatec provides superior cleanup especially in chlorine and salt pools due to its strong killing action with all types of chlorine products. The product is both an algaecide and algastat (prevents re-growth). Algatec also eradicates Black Algae (fungi) with chlorine in just 7 to 10 days. Unlike phosphate remover products that seek to control algae by phosphate starving, Algatec kills algae and prevents its re-growth. This amazing product makes it easy to control algae blooms and leaves pool water sparkling clear.
How it Works
Algatec's unique cationic polymeric compound function as a broad spectrum, non-oxidizing algaecide-microbicide that kill and control the growth of microorganisms by disturbing their normal metabolic process of the living cell. Algatec has powerful synergy with chlorine sanitizers which further enhances algae kill and removal. The product is metal-free, non-hazardous to handle, will not cause foam, and does not remove chlorine from pool water.
I haven't kept up with my pool lately because of my busy life. It had gotten green over the last few weeks of summer. Thanks to this algae killer it is gone.
I was in a never-ending fight with the algae on the pool until i found this product. I tried several before but they never quite did the job, but now i just pour this on my pool and wait until it does its magic... highly recommended.
This product works great ! I have a 50 unit apartment complex and since just all seniors live there, the pool gets used about three to for times a week and with the hot sun and high temps this past summer, some algae started to show its self, but we started to use Algatec Algaecide and it worked great !

what is the dosage rate for a 10,000 gallon pool?

BEST ANSWER:Depends on how bad. I would do about 1/2 (32 oz) if you have quite a bit. Run your pool to circulate for at least 4 hours. Wait about a wek and pour in the rest and run it for about 4 hours. You will need to clean your pool filter system especially if you have cartridges. I would clean them right after the first application. Just flush them out and let them dry in the sun.

After adding Algatec, we have a weird substance (kinda of foamy, hard to describe) floating on top of the water and the skimmers are FULL of it!!! Is this normal?!
BEST ANSWER:I've used the Algatec however my water has not been extremely green to the point of being foamy. If your pool water was that dark it is normal, manually remove the foam with hand skimmer and keep running it. Add a second portion of Algatec if water not clearing after a day or two. I add one full gallon, my pool is 22,000 gal. Hope that helps.
Thanks for your reply! It was very green at the beginning, a lighter green when we added the Algatec as instructed by our pool guy. This is the first time in 8 years it has turned green because we had the pump replaced. Our pool is 35,000 gallons and I was told to add the whole 64 oz and follow with super chlorination.
Indeed, a second dosis (extra gal) wont hurt. For your size pool I would poor 4 shocks in it. Add Algatec, shock after a couple of hours run time. If you have variable speed pump, run it for about 4 hrs at the highest. L

After I add 1/2 (32oz) jug and run 4 hrs, clean cartridge filter, -25000 gal Marcite pool, do I have to wait the whole 7 days because we're by the Gulf Coast, during frequent rain storms get a lot of spores blow in from South America. Just wondering when I should pour in the other jug?
BEST ANSWER:I have used Algatec on a regular basis for a few years. I follow the jug instructions for either initial treatment or maintenance and add additional Algatec using the maintenance schedule or more frequently if Algae is still present. You should not clean the filter unless the pressure gauge on the filter increases more than 10 psi over the "clean filter" reading as Algatec also works by coating the filter to filter more thoroughly and cleaning the filter before it is required will remove the Algatec that you paid to add.

I'm no expert, but when my pool clears up and is and no slippery stuff on the sides (my pool is vinyl because of our high water table where I live in UT), we have used the pool without any problems. I hope that helps.
I would wait at least 4 days before adding additional algacide. Make sure you run your pool system after adding to mix it thouroghly through the system. That should take care of any issues. Russ
