Will a 1HP motor be adequate to run with that filter?

BEST ANSWER: The HP rating of the motor isn't as much a factor as the impeller connected to it. You need to check the flow rate on the motor assembly to match it to the flow rate on the tank. The tank has a filtration rate of 98 gallons per minute/ sq-ft. there are 5 sq-ft so roughly 500 gallons per minute is the maximum capacity. On the minimum side, a normal 1 hp motor is going to be low but you can make up for that with longer run times to filter the pool each day. also, with a smaller motor, you also lose pressure so if anything in your system monitors pressure then it may have problems as well.
