Oceanside Glasstile®, a world leader in the design and production of glass tile, partnered with National Pool Tile in 2009 to create their first glass line made for pool applications. They named the series Oceanscapes and the colors are named after famous surf beaches. What began as eight beautifully created color blends has now expanded with sixteen more colors and styles and the addition of the Aquarius Glass line.
Who is Oceanside Glasstile®?
Oceanside Glasstile® was funded in 1992 when four partners were united by a single passion - to capture the beauty and magnetism of art glass in a form ideal for architecture and interior design. Today, more than fifteen years later, with a team of over 500 employees, that fire burns even brighter, fueled by the enduring belief in the need for beauty in our everyday lives. The desire to turn ordinary residential and commercial spaces into extraordinary living environments has led us to create an extensive collection of luxury tile products in a diverse range of mediums. The Oceanside Glasstile line of products features handcrafted artisan glass mosaics, field, decorative accents, and trim. Since the company's inception, we've been combining time-honored glass knowledge with a modern approach to design to craft truly stunning tile in small batches, casting and finishing by hand. Respect for the environment is essential to our company philosophy. All Oceanside Glasstile is made from silica sand; an abundant natural resource with many colors using up to 86 percent recycled material. Annually, we use more than two million pounds of glass from curbside recycling programs, turning waste that would otherwise end up in landfills into expressive and sustainable design materials. Our handcrafted process is a labor of love and allows us to create each order to our customer's specifications. Post-industrial glass and silica sand are combined with earth oxides to create colored glass formulas. The mixture is heated in gas-fired furnaces and once it becomes a molten consistency, skilled casters hand ladle the glass into iron molds. The tile, still connected in patty form, is then slowly cooled to room temperature in a conveyer oven called a lehr. Once cool, the tile patties are hand cut into individual pieces and the trimmings are recycled.
