Olympic's Zeron is the longest-lasting epoxy pool coating available, offering up to eight years of coverage with one application. It's considered a two-step "system" because Zeron consists of paint and a catalyst (as shown above), which are packaged separately and mixed in the can when ready to be used, requiring only a single coat.
As an epoxy paint, Zeron can be used on virtually any type of pool surface, from concrete to fiberglass, and it is thick enough to be used as an alternative to traditional pool plaster for commercial or residential purposes. In fact, its nonporous surface and sturdiness give it the lowest cost of use over time among all pool coating options, and make it the most reliable method available.
Zeron requires a coat of primer and we offer Gunzite (which Olympic recommends) for gunite and fiberglass pools and rougher concrete and plaster finishes. Please carefully read all documents in the Product Resource Center to the right to make sure Zeron is right for your needs.
We keep the White and Bikini Blue varieties of Zeron in stock and they normally ship out on the same business day. Very nice
At first I as intimidated by the idea of painting my own pool. But incredible amount of information here helped me out, along with some how to YouTube videos. The paint is high quality and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

when repainting over existing zeron do i need to prime?

BEST ANSWER: I repainted after 4 years. I used thge exact same paint and only pressure washed. Most important part is enough dry time to cure before water goes back in.

how is epoxy paint with catalyst mixed?

BEST ANSWER: You pour the catalyst into the paint can and then use a mixer attached to your drill, at least 2-3 minutes of mixing. You than have about 45 minutes until it starts to thicken and about 2 hours max.

CAN IT BE SPRAYED?

BEST ANSWER: Hi. I sprayed it the first time i used it. It took about twice as much paint as rolling it on and I did not see any improvement in end result. It will also setup your paint sprayer for a one time use, the epoxy is almost impossible to clean out of hoses, pump and gun. I have apinted it twice in 5 years (4 years bewtween) and the second time I rolled it on, and most importantly let it back dry for at least 2-3 days before water fill. VERY HAPPY with this product and FYI I have also painted with riubber and latex in the past, this is much nicer and more resistant. Last word of advice, when the paint is wet, on your steps/stairs, you should throw on a good amount of "silica sand". Let it dry fully and sweep off the excess. It effectively makes it a very fine sandpaper, like a 400 grit so you dont end up sliding on the steps. Quite dangerous. Enjoy.

This is very slippery when it dries so no matter what you use you will need to sprinkle in some very fine sand for grip. Look at the Olympic web site and you can find one that will work for fiberglass. Excellent product for sure.

I don't see why it could be used on a fiberglass shower pan. I just used it on a fiberglass spa and it worked very well. I don't know the longevity with heavy shower use or normal wear so it might have to be repainted periodically (maybe few years).

Will I be able to paint my pool steps with this paint?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. I have done this twice with great success using the followiong. As soon as you paint the steps, you cover with silica sand, its very fine, organic and wont mold. You let it dry completely and then sweep off the excess. What you will be left with is a very nice surface that feels like 400-600 grit sandpaper. Perfect on the feet and no slip.
