How does this work. Are two required?

BEST ANSWER: No, only one per light is needed. The bolt is installed through an opening in the light ring and then screwed into the plastic wedge. Two options for the thickness needed. Re-insert the fixture into the niche and tighten the bolt. As the bolt is tightened the wedge wedges between the fixture and he niche thus holding the fixture in place.
