How it works:

SolarChlor’s Dual Patented process utilizes the sun’s power to transform salt (NaCL) into usable chlorine (HOCL) by means of electrolysis; powered by a non-harmful, high output solar panel. The SolarChlor unit also employs an anode that, through the patented salt dissolution process, releases charged mineral ions that actively penetrate the cell walls of algae spores and inhibits further mutation.

The chlorine and mineral levels are adjustable to prevent over chlorination and ionization. The high-tech solar panel will work in cloudy weather or even in the shade! SolarChlor is a solar powered device in which chlorine output may vary with climate conditions. In cloudy condiditons, chlorine consumption is reduced. The SolarChlor unit should be used to maintain a chlorine level in larger volumes of water, not establish one. The simple addition of liquid bleach or shock will establish a chlorine level.

Very disappointed!!

This does not make chlorine in a salt water pool!! Can not even keep chlorine levels up!! Very very disappointed in this product!!

It doesn't work.

It came with no instructions regarding what to do with it, how to know if it's working etc etc. the pool got greener. I took it out and put in chlorine instead. The only instruction I could find was a video that made it sound like you throw it in the water and that's it. Like I said the pool got greener so I tossed it out .

Does not work

I have a salt water pool and my old generator needs a new controller, so I thought I would give this a shot instead. It doesn't work. I bought 2, and neither output a detectable amount of chlorine. I don't keep my salt concentration as high as they want (3.5 instead of 4) because that's what my old generator required. I tried adding salt to the little bowl in the bottom to boost it, and that didn't seem to help. After a month, one of the solar panels started coming apart. The suction cup tethers hold for about a minute before they let go. All in all, this product just doesn't work. Great idea, poor execution. Save your money and buy a real chlorine generator.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, but it wants a much higher concentration of salt than a typical salt water generator. I keep my pool salt level at 3.5 ppm, and the two units in my pool don't seem to do anything. They want 4+.

BEST ANSWER: Can't speak for others, just our own situation... We have a 15' x 30' pool. We use 2 Solar Chlor units and a Solar Ionizer. Between the three devices, we have not had Algae since beginning their use, where before Algae recurred within 4-5 days after heavy algeacide use, chlorine shock, and with normal Ph and Alkilinity levels. Spend a lot less on chemicals and a lot less time in daily/weekly pool maintenance.

Warranty

SolarChlor Limited 3 Year Warranty

The SolarChlor limited warranty applies only to the original owner, as the warranty is non-transferable. Under this limited warranty our sole obligation is limited to the repair or replacement of the SolarChlor unit or one of its parts. Shipping will be the responsibility of the owner. All other warranties, expressed or implied, including the implied warranty or merchantability are hereby disclaimed.

The manufacturer hereby warrants the SolarChlor unit to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase. Proof of purchase and/or warranty registration must be on file with Marrick Enterprises, Inc. or must be sent in with the unit.
In the second year from date of purchase the SolarChlor unit will be replaced for payment of 50% of the current retail price less shipping and handling fees.
In the third year from date of purchase the SolarChlor unit will be replaced for a payment of 75% of the current retail price less shipping and handling fees.

The SolarChlor unit is designed for residential swimming pools only. Use in any other manner will void the warranty. If the SolarChlor unit is used in any application other than its intended use for chlorinating swimming pool water, the purchaser or end user releases the manufacturer from any and all claims related to use of the SolarChlor unit and agrees to indemnify the manufacturer from any claims related to improper or non-authorized use. The SolarChlor warranty does not cover failure to follow all safety instructions or precautions, user’s or owner’s negligence in part or whole and/or problems arising from misuse, abuse, accident, improper application, improper chemicals, improper maintenance and/or installation, Acts of God, damage from pets, plants or other animals, abnormal weather conditions, abnormal handling, and dismantling the SolarChlor unit in any manner including but not limited to bending, scratching, scrapping, shorting out, or chemical destruction of the cell plates and/or solar panel misuse. This warranty specifically excludes all incidental or consequential damages. State laws may vary from state to state and this limited warranty gives you specific rights. Warranty must be mailed in within 60 days of purchase accompanied by a copy of the purchase receipt. Under this limited warranty, only the original purchaser may submit a claim. All claims must be submitted with the part to be warranted.
