The two types of shuffleboard have differences and similarities. In both games, the goal is to slide a disk across the playing surface and have it stop within set points areas. In deck shuffleboard, however, a long wooden stick is used to push the disk, and the playing surface is on the ground. In table shuffleboard, the disk is pushed with the player's hand and, as the name suggests, the surface is on a raised table.
Each of these is primarily popular in slightly different environments. Deck shuffleboard is most associated with cruise ships as a game to pass the relaxing hours between ports. Table shuffleboard is found most often in bars and gaming halls, but has become popular for home game rooms or outside patios. For most people interested in owning a shuffleboard, the table version is most practical. Table shuffleboard is a fun and unusual addition to a home game room. It's great for family fun!
