OVERVIEW

Glacier Ice Block Residential Pool Cooler

The Glacier Ice Block pool cooler is a perfect solution to uncomfortably warm water for medium-sized residential pools. Glacier swimming pool chillers are designed to solve the problem of hot pool water by taking the heat out of the water, and cycling the cool water back into your pool. Depending on the size and finish of your pool, the cooler can lower its temperature from 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit in 12 to 14 hours (note: pool finishes and bottoms that absorb heat more readily, such as quartz or dark tile, can take longer to fully cool). You'll never see it on your utility bill, but you will see it on your friends and family's faces when they're splashing around in your cool and refreshing pool in the peak of summer!

Ice Block Features:
  • Recommended for pools from 8,000-20,000 gallons
  • Efficiently cools 30 gallons per minute
  • Saltwater pool friendly
  • Limits evaporation for savings on water and chemicals
  • Easy installation and maintenance
  • Runs with your pool pump and automated systems
  • Optional temperature controls for manual pool systems
  • Energy efficient – Electric powered (low amperage output) 110/115V 8.5 Amps 60/50Hertz
  • Single inlet/outlet lines (1.5" diameter)

Glacier Pool Coolers are the best solution to uncomfortably warm pool water because:
  • Glacier Pool Coolers is a fan based system, not a heat pump/heat exchange unit. The Glacier system does not need Freon or gas.
  • It is easily incorporated into your existing pool plumbing system and automated control systems OR can be installed seamlessly on a new build.
  • Glacier is the original fan based swimming pool cooling system, trusted by pool owners around the world, and is the only patented system of its kind.
  • It costs pennies a day to operate. Residential models require an average of less than 10 amps; you'll never see it on your electric bill.
  • Not only will your pool be refreshing during those hot summer months but your pool water chemistry will be easier to maintain.
  • A 10 degree drop in water temperature (95' to 85') can often see a reduction of 20-25% in chemical consumption.
  • It doesn't matter if you're in the high desert or the Deep South, Glacier Pool Coolers can cool any pool anywhere!
Like all Glacier coolers, the Ice Block works by taking water from the pool's filter and chilling it with the airflow created by the cooler unit's fan. The chilled water is pumped back into the pool through the cooler's returns.

The Glacier system was developed in Houston, TX where the summers can average 90% humidity. All technical specs are based on the research done in that climate. The Glacier product line is UL tested and certified for residential and commercial use.

Glacier Pool Coolers are a solution that is affordable, efficient, easy to install, and inexpensive to operate. It's like an air conditioner for your pool!

Enjoy your cool & refreshing pool all summer long with the original, trusted, patented swimming pool cooling system!

What are the measurements around the bottom of the gpc-25, on the outside?
A shopper on Mar 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The GPC-25 is 52" tall and 34" in diameter. This would make the circumference around the outside approx. 106" at the widest point.
Are there installation instructions? How do I pipe it in?
Andy on Mar 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello, I will email you the instructions.
Can this cooler get my spa down to 40degrees?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use my chiller on a 25000 gal pool, it brings my pool down from 94 degrees to 87 degrees overnight. That doesn't seem like a lot but, It the difference in a warm bath and a cool stream. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Can the unit be turned on and off?
A shopper on Jul 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, ours came with a switch pre-wired into the system. Then, we wired it from our circulation timer which gives us an easy timer option in addition to a manual off option.
Is it true that it can be used only at night?
A shopper on Apr 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The cooler can be used any time of the day, but it is an evaporating system that relies on the natural cooling of water evaporation through the system. As it is not a heat pump, it is not a strong enough process to fight the heating effects of the sun. I run mine at night as soon as the sun goes down and manage to get about 5 to 6 degrees of cooling a night in the brutal Florida sun. It is a waste of energy and time to attempt to cool the pool during daylight hours regardless of the size of the pool.
I am curious if this pump actually cools the water itself or cycles in cool water from the ground? I live in AZ so there is no cold water to be had in the summer time.
mindy on Aug 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This cooler does not bring in water from elsewhere. The cooler just circulates the pool water across a medium where airflow across the medium cools the flowing water. The cooler depends heavily on the temperature of the outside air. I have not yet cooled my pool lower than the air temperature, so I don't believe there is any evaporative cooling taking place. The cooling is direct air cooling, which is why it works best overnight when the air is cooler.
can i add it to a pool that already has a heat pump?
salty on Jul 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I added it to a pool that has a gas heater, it really doesn't matter what you have as it is plumbed completely independently from the rest of the pool gear. I live in Florida and mine brings my pool down 6 to 7 degrees a night even though it is in the 90s here now.
Can u hook this chiller up to a variable speed pump ?
A shopper on Jun 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You could I am sure, but the volume of water that flows through it drastically changes the way it cools the pool water so i would suggest that you set the inflow and outgo valves at a certain speed and only run it on that speed as it will not work as well if the volume of water changes as the speed changes.
Are you able to recommend any installers in Virginia? We live in Urbanna, VA?
JohnP on Feb 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used my pool contractor, I could have easily plumbed it myself but they were doing a new pool install so I had them do it. They are a local company only; I am sure any of the maintenance franchises like pinch-a-penny (they would have done it here) or the others could easily do it as well. It comes with installation instructions that are very easy.
can this be used with an above ground pool? Mine is 18' diameter by 54" deep. Also can it be turned off in the winter months?
A shopper on Mar 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am sure you can as long as it is plumbed into the system correctly. I had my pool company plumb it, but I could have done it myself. The adjustments to get the flow in and out of the unit takes a bit of getting used to, but once I got it set for my pool it runs fine and doesn't need to be set again. Being in Florida we compete with brutal sun and long days but I can get my pool down about 7 degrees a night and if I run it for a couple of days (at night only) I can get it down about 10 or 12 degrees pretty easily. During winter you simply empty it and I cover it so no leaves get in it. i will see how it runs this summer after a season off, but it should be fine.
btu rating of chiller?
A shopper on Mar 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: since it is an evaporative cooler , I've never seen a btu rating. However, in Dallas, this cools my pools by about 6 degrees if I run it t night, this keeps the pool between 84 to 88 vs 90 to 96 before I installed it

Hope this helps
Does this cooler work reasonably well in high humidity environments? My pool is about 18,000 gallons (salt system) and in direct sun most of the day. Location is Texas Gulf Coast near Galveston.
George K on Jun 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I live in Kentucky and gets very humid here at times, I've had mine for 5 yrs. just like most have stated, it cools pool from 6-10 degrees cooler. My pool is approx 18500 gals & im direct sun all day.Today temp here is 96, 60% humidity & 78% dew pt, let's just say very hot & pool temp is 88 degrees which to me is perfect. The main thing is make sure it gets installed correctly & very level. I highly recommend it, esp in your climate.
What temp drop can I expect for a 15 gal in ground salt water pool ? Live in Houston Tx. Temps are 95-100. Pool is no longer refreshing!!
GREGORY C on Jul 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I get 5 to 6 degrees a night, sometimes more, the the brutal Florida heat in a 20,000 gallon in ground saltwater pool.
What is the electrical needed for hookup?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: One standard 110/115 v outlet is all it takes. It can be hard wired into an automatic system or just plugged in.
I live in Phoenix and have a swim spa (1500 gal) which I can't use over the summer months. The spa needs to be cooled to 85 for safe aerobic swimming , is this possible and do you have any customers who have done this?

Chillin
I tiled my pool instead of plaster and the surface and water gets really warm in Arizona - Phoenix area. I have had the Glacier chiller for 4 summers now it works great! It really cools the water great and would cool it too much if I kept it running.

Satisfied Customer!
No more bath water temps! This has been such a great investment as our pool generally stays around 90-95 degrees all summer! We have gone through several summers not using our pool at all! The Glacier Pool Cooler did as promised and lowered the temp to 85 degrees over night! We now maintain it at about 82 degrees, which is perfect for us!

works good
I live in Georgia and my pool water gets too warm. This cooler works well to reduce the temp - I wish it would reduce it more, but it does enough to make it more enjoyable.
September 9, 2013
The product works as described after installing it and setting the valves which was not that difficult, the manual operation is the only draw back all though its not a issue turning valves to isolate the chiller from my low speed pump operation I would recommend to pool owners if you are looking for total set it and forget it type operation make sure you have a automation type valve set up I may redo my piping and controls at a later date but for now I am very pleased, I hope that when I need replacement part down the road it won't be a hassle getting them form Glacier.
I would recommend this if you have water in the 90 and above, this unit and a rain shower makes it 80 degrees on a hot Humid new Orleans day!

Works
I have the 30 GPM model on a 15,000 gallon pool. The cooler will chill the entire pool to the outside air temperature overnight. Typically, I am dropping the temperature from about 90 degrees F to 80-85 degrees F. I'm sure if the night air were colder that it would cool more, but this 5-10 temperature drop is very refreshing.

Works Great! Cools the Pool.
We love the Glacier Pool Cooler. We live in San Antonio and our pool water reached 96*. It was like taking a bath and not refreshing on a hot Texas day. We ran the cooler the first night and it dropped the temp 8 degrees. We didn't run it during the day and the temp crept back up 4 degrees. We ran it the second night and it dropped to 82 degrees. We run the cooler every two or three days based on how hot it gets during the day. This equipment works as stated. We can enjoy the pool on hot days now.

Coolers cool!
The few times I have used it it’s working good. Seems you can only run it at night but it does bring the temperature down.
