The Poolguard Pool Alarm can be used with a solar blanket. Most reliable, advanced, and affordable alarm available. Poolguard Pool Alarms are designed to detect intrusions similar to a one year old child weighing 18 pounds and up.
I was looking for something like this at Walmart and they recommended I look online so I'm glad you carried it. I ordered it and at first I didn't know how the safety future worked but I got it all figured and anything that gets near that pool is noticed. Happy and relived mom...
This device works as stated and gives me another layer of relaxation. While all adults need to watch the kids it's relaxing to know that I am doing more to help with safety.
Arrived on schedule at a fair price and worked right out of the box with easy to follow instructions.
BEST ANSWER:No but when you remove it from pool alarm will sound. You can set it down-disarm alarm and it is in sleep mode until you insert it back into pool

Is this made out of metal or plastic? I need one for a HOA pool to keep outsiders hopping the fence to use the pool after hours. Vandalism and theft is our common issue.
BEST ANSWER:You drill about a 3/8" hole roughly 3 inches from the edge in the concrete. A small rod on the alarm unit fits down in that hole to secure it. I'm happy with the system, it has worked well.

There is a peg that rests in a drilled hole on the side of your pool. I bought a concrete block to drill into and set on the ground, so we didn't have to drill into the concrete deck.
You will need to drill a small hole in the concrete or in the coping in order to have the alarm stabilized. The alarm works great and I highly recommend it.
BEST ANSWER:This is a BATTERY operated device that does not connect with the electric grid. Even if it fell into the water it would only short out the battery inside the device.. UL is usually only concerned with devices that are plugged into the electrical system and can pose a life threatening event, not flashlights, cell phones or other devices that are battery powered and which present no risk of harm. You can safely put your fingers across small batteries such as used in this device with no impact.. IT should be assumed that the device would meet UL 2017 probably because it is battery operated and thus probably not covered by UL.
To be sure, you can call your inspection department and anonymously ask if battery powered devices are required to pass the inspection.
I would also believe that this device has been in use for years and if a UL inspection was required, it would have already been done or the product taken off the market
