Clean or backwash your filter before adding PoolRx+ and remove all debris from skimmer and pump basket.
Place the PoolRx+ pool unit into Pump Basket or Skimmer. Ideally place in pump basket for increased water flow. The PoolRx+ pool unit should be added to the pool when the pump has at least 3 to 4 hours left on run cycle. This will ensure the granular completely dissolves out of the unit and through the filter into the pool.
Pump should run during the heat of the day.
Your pool should turn over its total volume of water at least 1.5 times per day. Generally, this will require 6 to 8 hours of pump runtime depending on gallons of water and pump flow rate.
We recommend starting with a new PoolRx+ pool unit every year for best results. The rejuvenating cylinder gets calcified and oxidized during the year.
The PoolRx+ granular minerals are lost from algae kill, backwashing, splash out and filter cleaning. The harder the minerals work and the tougher the conditions, the shorter their lifespan. Add a PoolRx+ booster when chlorine demand is increasing, there is algae growth or the water looks a little dull, even though the water is balanced and has at least 0.5-1.0 ppm of chlorine. You know it’s time to replace these lost granular with the PoolRx+ booster.
For seasonal markets, start with a new PoolRx+ pool unit at the beginning of each swim season. No need for phosphate removers, other algaecides, clarifiers. PoolRx+ pool unit is not compatible for use with bromine or biguanides.
If using Cal-Hypo products, be sure to follow the Cal-Hypo manufacturer’s directions for use.
Before draining a treated pool contact your local sanitary sewer and storm drain authorities and follow their discharge instructions. Do not discharge treated pool or spa water to any location that flows to a gutter, storm drain or natural water body unless discharge is allowed by state and local authorities.
