What Do Pool Valves and Pool Valve Actuators Do?
Pool valves and pool valve actuators play very specific roles
within your pool’s water circulation system. There are a few different valves
you should be aware of when learning more about the way your pool works,
including:
Diverter Valves
Also known as butterfly, 3-way and 2-way valves, diverter valves
are like big flaps responsible for shutting off, mixing, or diverting the flow
of water. Two-way diverter valves feature a lever on top to open and close the
valve, and while 3-way valves operate the same way, they also feature one inlet
and two outlets in which water can pass through, partially pass through, or be
blocked from passing through completely.
Backwash Valves
Also known as push-pull valves or multiport valves, backwash
valves are used to clean
DE and
sand filters by reversing the flow
of water and causing the trapped dirt within the filter to be released out and
away from the pool.
Check Valves
Check valves are one-way valves used to prevent backflow used when
the equipment is turned off. Check valves are often seen in automatic
chlorinators, solar heaters, and
pool pumps,

features, and hot tubs.
Valve Actuators
Valve actuators are motorized/mechanical devices used to open and
close pool pump valves. Valve actuators are available for 2-way and 3-way
