What is a Spa GFCI?
Spa GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter), is a device used to protect your hot tub from deviations in your electric power supply. Deviations in your electric power supply can happen for a number of reasons, including an overloaded circuit, damaged wiring or exposure to things like dust or moisture. When your hot tub GFCI detects one of these disturbances, it interrupts the circuit and shuts off the electricity running to your hot tub to prevent accidental damage or injury. According to the
National Electrical Code, a hot tub is required by law to be GFCI protected. Because working with electricity (especially around water) can be dangerous, we recommend recruiting the help of an electrician or your local pool and spa experts to install your spa GFCI, as well as address any future hot tub GFCI issues you may encounter.
