The CaliMar® CMARSHA40-3Y is a complete saltwater chlorination system designed for inground pools up to 40,000 gallons in volume. It comes with a power center and the CaliMar® CMARCHA40-3Y salt cell, as well as a 15-foot cord for connecting them.
CaliMar® chlorination systems and replacement cells are proven to provide reliable performance after being tested under rigorous conditions.
The CMARSHA40-3Y system allows you to do with away storing and handling hazardous chemicals, as it produces all the chlorine your pool and/or spa will need. You only need to place ordinary table salt into the pool, and the CaliMar® chlorination system does the rest. The indicators and digital readout on the power center let you monitor the system and alert you when maintenance, such as adding salt, is required.

I currently have a 20,000 gallon pool and a zodiac salt system. Nobody local can test the cells, so the next time my cell dies I'm thinking I might get this to replace my zodiac.

The questions I have are:

1 - is Calimar US-based? (try getting service from Zodiac! ha!)
2 - if Calimar goes out of business, do the Hayward cells fit? (that is, what are my chances of getting replacement cells if Calimar goes kaput)
3 - has anyone had one of these for a year or more? How's it performing after a year or more?
4 - How susceptible to calcium buildup are the cells? My Zodiac is killing me....

That's all I can remember right now...

BEST ANSWER: I've been using Calimar salt cell for years. Yes, calcium does build-up and I have previously just used a high pressure water jet to clean it out, but there is a method for cleaning the cell with acid, which I'm doing today. Will get back on with results.
what needs to be done to convert from regular to salt after I have the salt water chlorinator?
A shopper on Aug 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: :You are going to love this answer. Go to a pool supplies store and ask them how much salt you need to add for the size of the pool. Try to get 99% pure sodium chloride. (That's common food quality.) These particles will dissolve much faster than other pool salts. I wouldn't pour all the salt at one time because it will tend to gather in the low end of the pool and it may be difficult to see as the water clouds a bit. Regardless, you need brush it around frequently after it is added to help dissolve the salt. If you are anxious to get started, buy from that supplier. In the future, shop around to find the best price for the quality you want. Good luck.
Don't think I'm producing chlorine?
Randy on Aug 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: How I found out was I put a pan under the water going out of generate unscrewed it a little and let some water come out. Than I took a test strip and put it in the water. Chlorine should be real stronge coming out of the generate. I found mine lower than what was in pool so I new it was not working. Take a video f you doing the test because calimar is going to ask you to do it anyway if it's a warranty I also went to a pool supply place and asked if they had any old salt generators so I could put it on there to keep the pool running and I just started putting chlorine the old way. Because calimar is pretty slow at getting a new one back to me. It's been a month now and it's just been shipped back. I hope this all helps
What is cost of cell, will this be a good replacement for a Hayward aqua rite?
Deniece F on Aug 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I purchased and installed this system for a customer. It is a direct replacement for a Hayward (Goldline) Aquarite system. So far my customer and I are totally satisfied, but we did this earlier in the summer so it hasn't had a chance to pass the test of time yet.
Is the Flow Switch included?
A shopper on Jun 30, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes the switch is included
Is the flow switch and PVC junction piece included? There should be a lot more information about what's in the box.
A shopper on Jul 26, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Everything you need is in the box. 2" and 1.5" fittings as well. I believe if you go to the resources tab, the manual is there and shows everything included.
How to winterize salt cell? How to winterize a salt cell?
A shopper on Oct 16, 2021
BEST ANSWER: If you live in a climate where temperatures drop into freezing conditions, I assume you will probably not be using your pool, therefore you would winterize just like any other pool system. Shut off water to filter system and drain all equipment, then add proper winterizing chemicals to pool water. If you live in a climate where it doesn’t freeze, then there is nothing to do.
What is the voltage?
Kevin K on May 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Voltage either 120 or 240. The factory setting is 240V since most pumps installed are run at 240V If you have the Chlorinator and you see that the wire cable from the box contains a black, white, and green, this may confuse you, because typically these colors will indicate a 120 volt connection. I think the white wire should have been painted red and white which might help relieve some confusion. If your pump is connected as 120v then you should connect the chlorinator as 120v. You'll have to use the jumper connected and the one inside the door cover. Inside the door cover are instructions on how to connect the jumpers for a 120V connection. Good luck. If you have more questions please ask Pool Supply and they will contact me. Regards.
What's the difference between a inground system and above ground I have a 24 ft round 52 deep with a inground pump and filte?
HandyRandy on May 27, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The difference is just the size of the pool, and perhaps how the system is mounted. You should order a system rated to handle a pool larger than what you have. Your pool is about 15,000 gallons, if I calculated right, so you should probably order a system rated at least 20,000 gallons. "In ground" systems will have a box that is intended to mount on a wall, preferably near your breaker box.
Why will the hot sensor not turn off, with it on the generator will not work?

Salt water chlorine generaator
This chlorine generator by Calimar is easier to install, set, and read than my old Hayward model. And it was much, much less expensive. I just had it installed about 10 days ago and it started working immediately. My pool is crystal clear once again. I recommend it completely.

Calimar salt cell
Worked great for six months, then I had trouble with the cell calcifing in four days. Got a new circuit board and had the same problem. Bought a new Hayward salt cell and everything is okay now.

Not strong enough for the job
My pool is an 18x36 rectangle. I ballpark it @26K gal. Installed this system and after 7 days (24 hrs non-stop) at 100% output I'm barely registering 1ppm free Cl. Salinity according to it's measurement has been between 2800 and 3500 ppm. So I'm adding more salt to dial it in to nearly a perfect 3750 and giving it one more week. If it can't reach at least 3 ppm, I'm sending it back and getting a Pentair (what I had previously for 6 years).

Calimar salt Chloinator CMARSHA40-3Y
Delivery was on time, very easy setup as per instructions and system is functioning as expected. very little attention needed to maintain pool. Pool has been crystal clear since placing in service. Chlorine setting at 22 percent and producing perfect levels. Still need to maintain PH and Hardness but overall I reccommend this Product at half 1/2 the cost of other brands.
