The Difference Between D.E & Cartridge Filters
New to pool filters? There are some things you should know. We have two types of Jandy pool filters available on our site - D.E pool filters and cartridge filters. While both filters stop debris and particles in your pool water from re-entering the pool, the methods used to stop them are different.
D.E. pool filters use tiny particles known as diatomaceous earth, a siliceous sedimentary rock made from diatoms within the filter grids to stop dirt and debris from re-entering your pool water. D.E. pool filters can filter out debris and particles as small as five microns, making it the lowest micron rating of any pool filter option.
Cartridge filters use pleated filters to filter out particles and debris and can be easily cleaned by simply removing the filter cartridge and rinsing it off. Cartridge filters can filter out particles as small as ten microns.
